However, the new page is more application-centric rather than file-centric. Go to the link above and find your software by scrolling down or using the links at the top. Download the file appropriate to your software and version, and follow the instructions. There is no longer a separate page of installation instructions. Note that there are two "new" files for Win-Test. They are CTY_WT.DAT and CTY_WT_MOD.DAT, but without the '=' in front of full callsigns, to maintain compatibility with Win-Test 3.18 and earlier. If you want/need to download the CTY-####.zip file containing all the files, you can still do this from the "Revisions" link. This is also the only way to get old versions of any of the individual files. I hope this is more useful than the previous way it was done. If there are any comments, suggestions or corrections, please let me know! 73 - Jim AD1C From jjreisert at alum.mit.edu Sat Dec 6 01:56:52 2008 From: jjreisert at alum.mit.edu (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Sat, 6 Dec 2008 01:56:52 GMT Subject: [Dxspider-support] Re-organization of Country Files web site Message-ID: <18402852l.265794937l9546844l5l@alum.mit.edu> I just made two other changes to the country files site that should be helpful: 1. If you use Internet Explorer, clicking on a link to download a country file should now prompt you to save it, rather than displaying it in the web browser. This has worked with Firefox for some time, but I just figured out how to make it work with IE. This has only been tested with IE7. Does anyone use Opera, Safari or Chrome? Do those browsers prompt you to save the file, rather than opening it? 2. The "old"-format CTY.DAT and WL_CTY.DAT files were mistakenly written in Unix instead of DOS format. This has also been fixed. They should now look "normal" when opened in Notepad. 73 - Jim AD1C I've done a re-organization of the Contest Country Files web site: http://www.country-files.com/cty/ The content is still the same, and the files have not been updated since 1 December 2008. Hopefully somebody can give me just a quick help on an issue with port 27554. I am running DXSpider on Linux at DB0LJ for a lot of years, so hopefully I have some experience with it. But at the moment I seem to be blind. Since a few days it is not possibly to connect the cluster from ax25. A manual connect using the client brings up "error on connect to localhost port 27554 (111)". Everything else works, Internet access, outgoing traffic in ax25, all fine. Even that I did not change anything on the ipchains-setup I tried it with ipchains switched off, no change! ... it was just because I did not know anything else anymore, a connect to localhost should not be blocked. Manual start of cluster.pl does not show any "helpfull error message" :-) (see startup log at the end) I suggest - but I am really not sure - this happens since my update from 1.54 to 1.55 abt. 3 weeks ago. Any helpfull idea how to fix that? I am using perl 5.8.8, openSuse10, kernel 2.6.27-6. Thanks! I don't know why the issue suddenly came up but I found it. The tcp error (111) shown in the error message of the client says, that there is no listener on the adressed port. The reason was quiet obvious after 2 tests and a more closer look to the netstat result: this command works: su sysop -c 'telnet localhost 27754' and this command does not work: su sysop -c 'telnet 127.0.0.1 27754' Normally I would expect that to be the same (if the hosts file is correct, which was default on my system). A 'netstat -an | grep 27754' shows only a listener process on port "::1" which is the IPv6 address of "localhost". There is no listener on the IPv4 address 127.0.0.1 which is used by the client program. Don't ask me why this happens, maybe something which came up with a new kernel? I do not run IPv6 and have no experience with that. Now I changed the $clusteraddr in DXVars.pm from "localhost" to "127.0.0.1" and everything is fine again! 73 de Hans, DL5DI > -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- > Von: dxspider-support-bounces at dxcluster.org > [mailto:dxspider-support-bounces at dxcluster.org] Im Auftrag > von Hans-Juergen Barthen > Gesendet: Donnerstag, 18. Could you check /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-lo to make sure the local loop interface is indeed configured ? it may be corrupted since your crash. Mine (opensuse as well) looks like this: # Loopback (lo) configuration IPADDR=127.0.0.1 NETMASK=255.0.0.0 NETWORK=127.0.0.0 BROADCAST=127.255.255.255 STARTMODE=onboot USERCONTROL=no Regarding the discrepancy between 'localhost' and 127.0.0.1 this should be only dependent on /etc/hosts (as you state as well), just make sure you still have the 127.0.0.1 localhost line there. Just trying to help an opensuse colleague ;-) using 10.2 kernel 2.6.18.2 here Marco, HB9CAT -----Messaggio originale----- Da: dxspider-support-bounces at dxcluster.org [mailto:dxspider-support-bounces at dxcluster.org] Per conto di Hans-Juergen Barthen Inviato: gioved?, 18. dicembre 2008 11:49 A: 'The DXSpider Support list' Oggetto: Re: [Dxspider-support] Port 27554 issues I got my cluster work again! Until today it works stable, no issue anymore. There is still a localhost entry in the hosts file, but there are usually 2: ------ 127.0.0.1 localhost # special IPv6 addresses ::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback ------ netstat showed port 27754 activ on "::1" only, so it was only listening on the ipv6-localhost. That did not work, I am not using IPv6. Here my localhost configuration: lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:1503362 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1503362 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:180344849 (171.9 Mb) TX bytes:180344849 (171.9 Mb) My suggestion is, that IPv6 functionality came in with a new kernel or other update and brought up this issue. Now that I changed the $clusteraddr in DXVars.pm from the default value "localhost" to it's v4-IP "127.0.0.1" netstat shows port 27754 listening on 127.0.0.1 again as usual and everything works fine. 73 de Hans, DL5DI > -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- > Von: dxspider-support-bounces at dxcluster.org > [mailto:dxspider-support-bounces at dxcluster.org] Im Auftrag > von Marco Zollinger, HB9CAT > Gesendet: Freitag, 19. Is there any alternatives that comes even close to qrz.com ? What does other siteops think about this issue ? The original AK1A cluster introduced callsign lookups with the "show/buck" command. It required the sysop to pay for and have the Buckmaster callbook on CD for the lookups to work. These were in the pre-internet days. This command still exists in DXSpider and still requires the Buckmaster subscription CD. At $80/yr for Buckmaster, qrz.com is a bargain. We cannot insist that someones hard work and effort be given away for free. If he had gotten enough donations, this wouldn't have happened. One of the things I am trying to do is make the conversation between sysop and user more visible. Currently, if a user logs in to a cluster using a logbook (like most people these days) they simply do not see the MOTD. This makes it really awkward to get new information to users. For example, I run registration at gb7mbc and the users would not see the alternative motd explaining how to become registered. Would it be possible to have a command like sh/motd ? I could work something out to do it here but it would not be the same at other clusters so something more generic is needed. The command would simply be typed by the user and return the relevant motd (dependant on registration status. This would mean that HRD (and any other software that implemented it) would be able to display the motd at login making it a lot more visible to the user. Even I am getting my head around the wiki. Some of you will have noticed that the main website now dumps one onto the wiki instead of the old documentation. I hope to incorporate the content of the wiki into the documentation sent out with DXSpider, completely replacing that which is there. If anyone has useful input, then please get a login and start adding stuff to the wiki. They are caused by me being a very old C programmer and not keeping up to date with newer C compilers - which seem rather picky these days. I am presuming that you are using 'client' for ax25 connections. If so, then are these incoming or outgoing connections? If you are using them for telnet connections then there are better ways of doing that (you don't need the client program, see: http://wiki.dxcluster.org/index.php/Configuration#Setting_up_telnet_connects_.28from_1.47_onwards.29 for more details. There are two, critical, callsigns in DXVars.pm: $mycall and $myalias. They *MUST* be different (either radically as in 'GB7DJK' and 'G1TLH' or our callsign but with a different SSID eg 'ON4KVI-2' and 'ON4KVI' respectively). If we assume the $mycall = 'ON4KVI-2', then when you do a connect script to your partner, you must login as 'on4kvi-2', not something else. Also, your node partner needs to have done a 'set/spider on4kvi-2'. Just in case it appears too confusing, you can login or do a set/spider with your node call in upper or lower or some mixture of case (eg 'On4KvI-2' will work just as well). You can watch the dialog with '/spider/perl/watchdbg '. Paste the PC18,PC92,PC20,PC92,PC22 initial conversation on startup, together with any PC51s you see and we will diagnose your problem. I thought I had put some messages in to prevent that happening, but I am now looking to see what is going on. Try doing a '/spider/perl/update_sysop.pl' - you should have done this after changing your $mycall and $myalias so that they are different. You will need to stop the node first and restart it afterwards. However, I don't think this will be sufficient. The user record for IK5ZUK-6 seems to be corrupt. That is what is causing the problem. There may be other corrupt records as well. When this happens, it is usually better to rebuild your user file from a backup (/spider/data/user_asc) but I don't think you have been running long enough for you to have one (by all means look). You can try getting a current snapshot by doing a 'export_user' command in DXSpider, but it may not work and the node will crash again. In that case, the only option you have is to start from scratch by doing another /spider/perl/create_sysop.pl. You will need to do a set/spider for all your partner nodes as well.
