I would like to have the ability to use SSH to handle intra-node
connections in a secure way 
This could also (optionally?) verify the SSH fingerprint to ensure that
the connecting node is genuine 

SSH keys could also be used to provide secure, authenticated user logins
without relying on cleartext password exchanges 

Just a though?
