Every Saturday night (as I recall) the user file is dumped in ascii as
/spider/data/user_asc. The older ones are renamed, up to five
generations back with an increasing number of .o's.
To do snapshot of the situation 'now' do 'export_user' in a sysop
console window.
To reinstall one of these ascii files (which can be edited with your
favourite editor BTW):-
1) stop the node.
2) perl /spider/data/user_asc
3) restart the node.
If you want to copy the user file across to a new machine then the best
thing to do is:-
1) set up DXVars.pm how you want it
2) check that the new machine all runs as per the install instructions
3) stop the node
4) copy across the /spider/data/user_asc file
5) perl /spider/data/user_asc
6) /spider/perl/update_sysop.pl
7) restart the node.
Step 6 updates the sysop and node details in the user file with the ones
that are in the DXVars.pm file for this machine.
