Without the debug information (have a look at the directory:
/spider/data/debug/2001) I can't really do anything other than guess at
what the problem is.

But, in general, a problem like this is caused by one side or the other
getting confused and not sending a acknowledgement packet to a request. 

One of the things you could do on a day where this is occuring is to
run:-

cd /spider/perl
grepdbg 'PC(2[89]|3[0123])' | mail -s "mail debug" djk at tobit.co.uk 

and that will send me the relevant data from your current debug file. If
it has happened previously (in this example, say 2 days ago) then you
can do:-

grepdbg -2 'PC(2[89]|3[0123])' | mail -s "mail debug" djk at tobit.co.uk 
 
Which will look at the debug files from two days ago, instead of
"today's". The only problem with is that the time used for these is UTC,
so two days ago means two days in UTC time not localtime.

Please would you address your support requests to the
mailto:dxspider-support at dxcluster.org mailing list so that everybody can
see the problems that are occuring and also other people can help when I
am away (as I have been for the past week).
