Bob,
Thanks, that worked. How do you go back to KDE after going to Ctrl-Alt-f8?
I'm using Mandrake v9.0, and tty7 isn't being used. I just didn't know how
to get to it.

Since the KDE desktop grabs tty7, direct DXSpider to tty8 in
/etc/inittab. Of course you'll have to use Ctrl-Alt-F8 to see it.
Alternately, you could direct the output to a file and view it in a
text console on the KDE desktop with 'tail -f'.
