If it *is* available on AK1A clusters, it ain't on any that I have
access to... (eg GB7DXC).

But having said that, it is easy enough to do, when I have a some spare
time (not available, just now, as previously mentioned).

This is also easy enough to do. But I can't see it being any use for
logging software. If you want to involve logging programs, why not just
parse PC protocol and have done with it. There is a case for having a
switch which causes 'user' output to appear in PC Protocol format for
clients.
