Problem is fixed, I had to create a file /home/sysop/.cvspass file with the following content:

:pserver:anonymous at cvs.dxspider.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/dxspider A

from here run the procedure as described in the manual with the cvs ...... login command

Regards
Rob

I followed the steps in the manual:
First login as the user sysop. Next you need to connect to the CVS repository. You do this with the command below ...
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous at cvs.DXSpider.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/dxspider login
You will get a password prompt. Simply hit return here and your machine should return to a normal linux prompt.

I get the CVS password: prompt , I hit return and get the following error:

Cvs login: failed to open /home/sysop/.cvspass for reading: No such file or directory
Cvs [login aborted]: fatal error: exiting
$

The file cvspass doesn't exist, the directory /home/sysop does exist.

Anybody has an idea why it is not doing what is suppose to do?
