Thanks for the hint. As soon as I saw your note I had a sinking feeling.
Sure enough, when I checked ax25d was not running.

A former boss of mine used to say that half of all system testing could be
performed using a very simple test tool - the on/off switch. I think I will
run my system through a few power cycles and make sure I have everything
configured properly.
