[Dxspider-support] Spawn in crontab

Is anyone successfully using the spawn command in Spider's crontab under
Windows?  When I try to spawn a command (something simple like 'ping'),
the command will run.  However, after the command completes, perl then
crashes bringing down the node.
In this case, I am using W2K and Perl 5.6.1 (build 633) on a test
server.

I tried the same command on a system running under Linux and it works. 
In this case, it's also Perl 5.6.1.
