Many thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Arnold, I did as you suggested and made a second copy of spider.cgi, as 
dxcluster.cgi.  I changed the hostname.  I just point internet users to 
dxcluster.cgi and ampnet users to spider.cgi and all works fine.  :-)

The Apache server here is fully open to amprnet users but only a few pages 
are available to internet users.  An extra mod_rewrite rule allows internet 
users to dxcluster.cgi.
