I can't tell why your permissions are wrong, if you are using the user
'sysop' then this is how to fix it:-

1. Login or su as root.
2. cd /spider
3. chown -R sysop.sysop .
4. chmod -R g+rw .
5. logout of root

then restart the node, making sure you are the user 'sysop' when doing
it.

Again, please consider upgrading.
