I resend this mail regarding problems with CHAT and PC12s in the network on tuesday night.
Could anyone detect who was causing this?

Hi Ulrich,

The announces you saw on the cluster network was not sent as ANN/FULL at the source.
The information was sent as CHAT LOGGERNET. CHAT is an feature useing PC12 to distribute the traffic trough the cluster network. This is implemented in DX-Spider (by G1TLH), and is proven to work well. Unfortunately I have not heard of any other Cluster Software that supports this yet.

The cause of the problem is probably a clusternode with somekind of fault.

It seams that sometimes clusternodes useing old software, can not handle this correct. This works mostly fine, and only users that has JOINED the CHAT group LOGGERNET are able to see this information. On tuesday nigth problably some NODE in the WW network, corupted the PC12 and resent them incorrectly.

I have checked my logs in the my DX-spider, but can not see ANY "bad" announcent here. It should be possible to find the causing clusternode in other parts of the network. A couple of weeks ago it it was on old Clusse node in the Netherlands that caused lots of faulty announcements.

Similar problems can be seen when someone resends DX-spots. This is cured in most softwares now, but many nodes in the network are still running on old software, causing problems for everyone else.

Are you running CLX?

Hello Ulrich,

I'm sorry if this feature makes an "overload" of
the DX-cluster system.

All information in you list are send as chat messages
over the DX-spider node sk3w.shacknet.nu. They all
use the groupe name LOGGERNET. How this messages can
as announcements on other nodes I don't know?

So the users of LOGGER have used as i shall be used.
It's possible to make the messages as full announcements but LOGGER is not configured for it.

There seems to be a gateway of some kind how take the
chat message on the LOGGERNET groupe and make them
as announcements, somewhere on the system... maybe
other chat channels also are broadcasted in the
same way but have less traffic. In sweden we use
the chat channels named SM, VHF, MW mostly during
contest.

Summary... no error in LOGGER.
Something in the network, but what and where ?

Hello Ulf,

after searching I found you as autor of logger software. As I could read, you installed an option to spread out
infos from the log to others by announcements via the dx-cluster net.

Are you aware, that these "ann/full" are sent to most of the > 500 world wide dx-cluster nodes?

Not only the local users of my node DB0MDX were complaining about this screen filling stuff, but one could
read even bad comments from Italy etc.

For example ES5PC was user of EA4URE-5, this node is connected to all others...

Such a feature must only be used at a certain node, where the sysop does control the "hop-counter" for
ann/full to such low numbers, that the announcements reach , say only the next one, but not all the others
behind this one. Or it should be sent out only as "ann" - without "full", then it is sent out only to local users of
that specific node.

It would be best, if you change the software to only "ann", instead of "ann/full".
