I don't understand why this should occur, unless you are updating from a
very old version.

But you will need to rebuild the user database. To do this, first make
sure that the node is stopped, then:-

 $ cd /spider/data
 $ perl user_asc

then restart the node. 

Oh, and 5.8.0 is not the world's best version of perl but I don't think
that is the problem. It may be worth checking CPAN for a more up to date
version of Storable as well.
