That's unfortunate.

The longest "common" format I have seen is 12 characters long:

         HB0/HB9AON/P

Note this is the same length as the recent VU7 callsigns:

         VU7LD/VU3RSB

It's too bad we can't go back in time and fix this (we couldn't fix 
the Y2K problem retroactively either).
