I use PG4I's colrdx <http://pg4i.mattsnetwork.co.uk/linux/ 
colrdx.html> on my Mac and Linux boxes.  It compiled easily on the  
Mac (I have the X11 stuff as well as a bunch of Macports installed,  
so maybe the necessary libs, etc., came from one of those sources).   
It works fine on both platforms.  The standard OS X telnet doesn't  
give me any problems with DX Spider either.
