Before doing and upgrade I suppose I should be at the latest version of
PERL. Where do I find the version I have? Thanks

One of the interesting questions that will need to be answered is
whether this protocol will scale over an RF link. It may be that there
is too much routing information for an RF link to carry, in which case
it will require a set/isolate that will stop the routing info going
across that RF link (hopefully, fingers crossed, 'cos I haven't tested
it much).

I should also say that as more people use it, there will probably be
things crawling out of the code that I haven't experienced yet, but with
the new "instant" CVS server, they will be dealt with quickly. It will
also be possible to rewind back to 1.53 if I find that the problems are
overwhelming (can't see why, but it is possible).

For a bit of fun, here is my current configuration:

The :2 and :3 are some debugging that will help me nail any problems.

If you look carefully (and this is not mangled too much by thunderbird),
you will see a) loops and b) more than two levels of node connection. As
each new style node comes on, it will link itself into the tree at the
correct point - the tree can now grow to many levels. You can also see
where the loops are (eg: GB7XDX).

The protocol (is designed to and) *does* deal with loops :-) It will
automatically span the tree in the most efficient way, because nodes
know - for certain - whether they have had that routing broadcast already.
