When I did cat .cvspass, it couldn't find it. I did touch .cvspass in the
spider directory but got the same error with cvs login. I've now created
.cvspass in the CVS directory as well, with the same error.

[sysop at gb7wdx CVS]$ ls -la
total 24
drwxrwsr-x 2 sysop spider 4096 Oct 9 22:19 .
drwxrwsr-x 27 sysop spider 4096 Oct 9 22:17 ..
-rw-rw-r-- 1 sysop spider 0 Oct 9 22:19 .cvspass

-rw-r--r-- 1 sysop spider 0 Oct 9 18:25 Template
[sysop at gb7wdx CVS]$ cat .cvspass
[sysop at gb7wdx CVS]$ cd ..
[sysop at gb7wdx spider]$ cvs login
(Logging in to anonymous at scm.dxcluster.org)
CVS password:
/ does not seem to be a valid GIT repository

/ is not a valid repository
cvs [login aborted]: authorization failed: server scm.dxcluster.org rejected
access
[sysop at gb7wdx spider]$

Both of which are exactly correct..

Hmm....

do:-

cd ~
cat .cvspass

for me. If .cvspass does not exist, try:-

touch .cvspass

and the do the cvs login thing again.
