Dirk:
I've been helping KB2SYD & N2KI track down a problem with missing
spots. What's strange is that they were inconsistently missing, without
any discernible pattern.
Let me describe the problem by laying out some of the topology.

KB2SYD-5 >>> N2KI >>> K1EA
                        ^
                        ^
                       K1XX <<< WR3D

Some remote poking around looking at filter configurations and the usual
culprits did little to uncover any problem. At this point, I got KB2SYD
to connect to me directly so that I'd better be able to look at data
flows. Right now we're connected as:

      N2KI >>> K1EA
                ^
                ^
  KB2SYD-5 >>> K1XX <<< WR3D

The versions of DXSpider for these 5 nodes are:

K1EA: 1.51 (build 57.206) on Linux
K1XX: 1.54 (build 0.120) on Linux
WR3D: 1.54 (build 0.129) on Linux
KB2SYD-5 1.54 (build 0.134) on MSWin32
N2KI: 1.54 (build 0.135) on MSWin32

One other thing to note before continuing. I have an isolated
connection between K1XX and WR3D

After a short period of debug monitoring, it was readily apparent that
"occasional" spots coming into me (and N2KI in the initial
configuration) were not being forwarded to KB2SYD-5. And, as was
initially speculated, hop count was not the source of the missing spots.

Here's an example of a normal spot being propagated through my node to
others.

Note the missing spot for SYD-5 as well as the shortened list of nodes
to which the spot is sent. Some additional monitoring finally started
to show the following pattern!

The root of all evil turned out to be spots from WR3D! But why? It
finally dawned on me that this was the isolated connection. So, I
returned to a normal connection and voila, spots from WR3D no longer go
missing.

The missing spot problem is easily re-producible each time I isolate the
link to WR3D. At this point, I'll toss this little gem into your lap
and await any questions.
