I have seen this happen too.  I think that when the lat/lon PC41 is sent, a 
grid square PC41 is also sent.  Some distant node receives the grid square, 
converts it to lat/lon, and forwards that.  So anytime you are not in the 
middle of a grid square, the lat/lon will change.
