I think you need to remove the CPAN version that you have installed. 
Storable is now an integral part of a perl release. You can't just 
replace it willy-nilly. What I would be inclined to do is: find the 
current perl package for your installation (I am presuming .deb or 
.rpm), then "locate Storable", eliminate them all, then force a replace 
of the perl package.

If you still get problems, then it is likely that you will need to 
re-install the user file using the "perl user_asc" method.

But I have to say that I am getting sufficiently pee-d off with this 
sort of problem to finally move away from Storable and DB_File to 
something else. If I can find something that is available on both Linux 
and Windows. That may be SQLite.
