Hi All,

Thanks for all the responses on my little Spider problem!

Firstly my apologies for sending out emails with so many typos...it almost looked like English was my second language!

My excuse is sleep deprivation!!

Anyway GB7UJS is all up and running again.

My problem was interesting....

I have been virtualising my servers into a real server, rather than lots of PCS!

I am using VMware Server v2.0 on a Linux host.

When I set up my new cluster I crashed it all by making a stupid mistake with the VMware host and ended up with a cluster that wouldn't boot up....it turned out to be a corrupted users.v3 file. I also managed to corrupt the same file on my old cluster.

As the virtual machine was a new cluster I had no user_asc files in the data directory. I tried perl user_asc (and perl) on the old cluster and it just seemed to hang. So I copied the user_asc to my new VM and perl user_asc completed in a few minutes and hey presto a nice users.v3 file.

The cluster booted fine then

I copied the users.v3 file back to the old cluster machine and that started up OK also.

Sleep is a wonderful thing, so I am told!

Take care all

Regards

Bob G4UJS.
