Actually, thinking about it, this may not be a node issue at all. Or at
least to the extent that nodes do/should not mess with the text that is
being passed through nodes.
It is the client that renders the data, therefore it is the client that
should be utf8 aware. The node should be character set agnostic.
Of course that does not let me off the hook: console.pl, watchdbg and
grepdbg are all "clients" so I would need to see about sorting them out.
