*** DO NOT EDIT FILES THAT ARE IN VERSION CONTROL ***

(which is all of the files so far mentioned).

Rather than people editing files by hand and then (later) us getting a 
crop of "why won't it update" emails, please let Jim and I fix it. I 
will then issue a definite instruction as to what to do make it all work 
smoothly.
