Questions:

1) are you telnetting to localhost from your node box?
2) using IPV4 or IPV6?
3) are you using the curses client (this is now possible on windows with 
a bit of downloading)
4. have you rebuilt the user database and/or run 
/spider/perl/update_sysop.pl?
