I guess this has been asked before on the list, so my question is how to search the archives of the list? Or where to find the correct module versions?

Many of the modules are now included in the various distros and you may already have them, in which case trying to install may fail. The following "should" work for (from: <http://wiki.dxcluster.org/index.php/Linux_Installation#Installing_the_software>):

sudo apt-get install libtimedate-perl libnet-telnet-perl libcurses-perl libdigest-sha1-perl git make gcc

It appears that libdigest-sha1perl is replaced by libdigest-sha-perl in the latest Ubuntu, so you may want to try that.
