[Dxspider-support] Building new PI Cluster

I need some help, and I am sort of stuck on a failure with the copy from
.git.

$ git clone git://scm.dxcluster.org/scm/spider spider.new (completed
successfully)

I'm in /home/sysop

$ cp -a spider.new/.git /spider

fails with:

*cp: cannot stat 'spider.net/.git': No Such file or directory*

Should the command be:

cp -a spider.new/.git ~/spider

I guess I am trying to understand exactly what this copy is trying to do.
