Hello Bill, very many thanks for that - I'd completely overlooked the fact that there's a variable
in DXVars.pm for setting the interval, and when I checked I found it was defined as 11*60
which is exactly the interval I was seeing when there hadn't been any spots for a while.

I'll try upping the value to maybe 20 or 30mins and will see what happens - I'm not sure if any
connections into the DXSpider node will need any sort of keep-alive prompt but if they do
then hopefully increasing the interval a bit won't have any adverse effects.

As an aside, I meant to thank you a few months ago for your most excellent set of
instructions (v1.12 dated 23 March 2014) for installing DXSpider on a Raspberry Pi - as I'm
very much a Linux novice I wouldn't have been able to get the GB7DXC-5 node up and
running without your guidance. However...

In para 5 on page 5 of your instructions you suggest using the console command
'unset/debug all' to stop all debug logging after the system is up and running. According to
Dirk this isn't a valid command - I'd found this by experience! Also, Dirk strongly
recommends leaving 'chan' debug logging enabled - see his email to the list on 3rd Sept.
You might wish to update your instructions to reflect this... :-) I've changed the line in my
DXVars.pm to be: "@debug = qw(chan);"
