Hi again Dirk,

I made a couple of more attempts, on another server. I see the same thing
on both servers.
Could the following be a clue? With the perl -W switch I see:

sm3sgp at fernebo-sk3w:~/spider/perl$ DXSPIDER_ROOT=/home/sm3sgp/spider perl
-W /home/sm3sgp/spider/perl/cluster.pl
Use of uninitialized value $data in concatenation (.) or string at
/home/sm3sgp/spider/perl/DXUtil.pm line 492.
Use of uninitialized value $local_data in concatenation (.) or string at
/home/sm3sgp/spider/perl/DXLog.pm line 53.
Bareword "Types::Serialiser::Error::" refers to nonexistent package at
/usr/local/share/perl/5.20.2/Types/Serialiser.pm line 126.

cluster
DXSpider V1.57, build 105 (git: dbc07bc[r]) started
can't open /log/2017/01.dat No such file or directory at
/home/sm3sgp/spider/perl/DXLog.pm line 153.

Missing packages in my installations?
Running Debian 8 and Ubuntu 14.04.
