Hi Mike

We had the same at M6T. Our two both had the same source IP pointing to a domain owned by aruba.it which apparently operates Italy, Czech Republic and Slovakia – but it was the same source IP as were used to spoof your spots – but faked as coming from different clusters... Not that the locations confirms much other than probably one person / group – could just be a VPN end point if someone was trying to be properly obscure – but looks co-ordinated.

BTW – thanks for 4 bands at the weekend – sorry we missed you on 160 and 10.

73,

Andy, G4PIQ

Subject: [Dxspider-support] CQWW Self Spotting - spoofing

Hi All

Apparently, someone has been having fun in the cluster network by faking self spots.

In the 2 with my callsign on them, I was running unassisted in this contest. These are not automated search and pounce spots that N1MM can produce.

The concern is that self spotting will get you tossed out of a contest and someone is having fun spoofing these.

Others are reporting similar on the CQCW reflector.

I thought I would share part of what is being discovered.
