[Dxspider-support] a little help needed

Well …

For me, what these announcements actually are:

1. Totally unnecessary

2. Very irritating

3. Zero value

(notice I didn’t mention bandwidth)

We are all entitled to an opinion …

Yes totally wast of bandwith, from the 10761 packets there are 10 of them Annoucements. The biggest is 215 bytes, so that is 2.1 Kilobyte.

Your total respond to this mail was 2182 bytes, 2.2 kilobytes.... So what is a wast of bandwith.

Just like this messages, what a wast. But is was fun doing it.

Frame 1650: 215 bytes on wire (1720 bits), 215 bytes captured (1720 bits)

pd9q at dutch:~$ sudo tcpdump -w dxspider.pcap -i ens3 port 7300
tcpdump: listening on ens3, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 262144 bytes
10761 packets captured
10764 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel

pd9q at dutch:~$ grep -wc "PC93" dxspider.pcap
10

pd9q at dutch:~$ grep -a PC93 dxspider.pcap

Yes, definitely getting through, now blocked on my nodes. All I see in Ann/full is node bulletins. A complete waste of bandwidth.

Jan,

I seem to remember that as the spots the ann have a minimum time to repeat them. With 0 * * * * you will have several duplicate messages.

Thanks for the feedback.

Well not quite ok yet.
I have two clusters and I see it only from pa4jj-2
And we have to wait an hour to see if the change for pa4jj-3 cluster is also ok now.

Have you fixed it?

I have this line in local_cmd/crontab as the first line

0 * * * * run_cmd('announce full CLUSTERPA4JJ-2: New IP address. Now telnet//pa4jj-2 77.174.195.163:7300 ' . cldate . ' ' . ztime)

But I cannot see it in my announce window and telnet window when or if this is executed.

Did I miss something?
