If you have the cluster automatically starting, you need to stop the service.  On Ubuntu, this would be…

systemctl dxspider stop

Or similar

Once you have made the changes

systemctl dxspider start

If you have not enabled automatic restart, then simply stop the cluster from the console with the command

shutdown
