[Dxspider-support] Network Update

Keith, It certainly works, but the idea is that you don't have to reboot node if there isn't an update.

This is what I use, I took it straight from one of Dirk’s posts.

It’s in /spider/local_cmd/crontab

# Automaticlly check for update at 02:20 on Tuesday morning and then apply at 02:30

# Note, this restarts the node so will disconnect all sessions

20 02 * * 2 spawn("cd /spider; git reset --hard; git pull")

30 02 * * 2 run_cmd('shutdown’)

It’s worked perfectly for me over the last couple of weeks and has kept me up to date. Currently showing:

DXSpider v1.57 (build 491 git: mojo/4dcd43a5[r]) using perl v5.28.1 on Linux

Subject: [Dxspider-support] Network Update

Hi,

So far I have sent the update request to about 150 DXSpider nodes.

5 say they will value it

14 will soon

3 are not clear

1 waiting for help.

Only 16 have been updated:

                DH1TW-2

EA2CW-3

EA2RCF-5

EA4FIT-2

EA4RCH-5

EA6VQ-2

EI7SDX

IK7IMO-6

IU1BOW-2

IW9EDP-6

JE3YEK

N9SEO-2

NL7S

ON3URE-2

SM7GVF-6

SR4DXC

I ask you to communicate with your neighboring nodes and help keep the network up to date. Everybody wins.

This attempt to remove archaic builds should only be the beginning. There are tools for our nodes to keep up.

I have created a small script that checks if a new build exists, if so it triggers the node to be updated and rebooted at 00:00 (or whenever defined in the crontab). In this way we avoid having to look at it continuously, and it is guaranteed that we are updated.

Thanks for your help.
