Dirk's idea is interesting, although I have no experience with any of them.
Having a "package" that contains "everything" you need is a good idea for
sysops with no Linux experience. It's partly along the lines of docker :)
Creating RPM or DEB style packages is another thing to consider, but the
dependency goes beyond the distro (its version, ...)

An RPM would be nice for Red Hat based distros. I'll have to look into that
(when I have the time...sigh!)
