AFAIK perl does not care about line endings. For instance, a unix line 
ended version of DXSpider will work without any conversion on a Windows 
box. But it is a while since I experimented with this in the other 
direction.

But dos2unix will fix that perfectly well.

It is not a standalone program. It is a DXSpider command, so yes it will 
work in your DXSpider crontab.

Having looked at the script, it could easily be modified to allow it to 
be a stand alone program.
