[Dxspider-support] Cloning drives?

Hi Brian,

To clone an HD you can basically use two methods:
1. Use the "dd" command. Here is an example
sudo dd if=/dev/sdX of=/dev/sdY bs=64K conv=noerror,sync
2. You can use a tool like this
https://clonezilla.org/downloads/download.php?branch=stable

It all depends on your knowledge and skills.

But the question is, do you really need to clone the HD to make sure your
node is backed up?
In my humble opinion, it would take less time to upgrade the node and if it
fails to revert back to the previous build/version than to do a clone.
You could always put a second HD -for security- on the same machine and
leave your backup there.

If your OS is old, it is worth upgrading or reinstalling it if it is very
old, which will eliminate bugs and increase the efficiency of your machine.

Installing a new DXSpider takes no more than 5 minutes. And if you want to
upgrade, 1 minute in most cases.
You can always turn to the great work of SV5FRI, who has a script that will
automatically do a fresh install with all the necessary dependencies.
Or you can update it with another script that is on the same site. And if
you dare with "git" commands, it's a breeze.

Asunto: [Dxspider-support] Cloning drives?

Hi all,
General question here,, is there a way of cloning a HDD?
I’m thinking instead of going through the laborious process of rebuilding
the cluster,,, just to swap the hard drive if it fails to keep my cluster
online.
Also,, it could be useful when replacing the PC.

Best Wishes
