I did use Yiannis' script and ended up with a system that wasn't running, so moved on to the next how-to. Having had success with the DXSpider wiki I now have a better understanding of why Yiannis' script didn't work for me.
 
Thank you for your dxspider upgrade script, that'll be useful in the future, but what happened here is that the OS was updated rather than dxspider. DXspider starts and runs manually, but none of the automatic processes work, it doesn't start on re-boot, or connect to nodes so I suspect that the Ubuntu system has changed between 22 and 24. 
 
I have to say, there are a lot of how-tos out there, which seem to be out of date. The wiki seems to be a great place for the community to keep things focused and relevant.

I've been using Linux for a long time, and I'm ok with things breaking during upgrades. After a few failed attempts I got DXspider running last night on Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS but had the reminder that 24.04 LTS was available.
 
This morning I upgraded and DXspider is broken, I expected that :)
 
So I'm curious as to how this community works towards getting DXspider onto these latest OS versions, and how/if people like me can fix their broken installations through community advice? I'm going to leave it broken for the day just-in-case one of you fine people fancies troubleshooting my installation.
