And bringing the fight full force! But nicely alternating between spots
on most bands and multiple spots on the same band. If it is a DXCC I
need for anything my voice announcements go crazy.
I'm just hunting for Christmas Island give me a break man.
I have long supported user registration to spot DX and have strong
feelings about not interfering with how individuals choose to operate
their nodes. My attitude is changing. I'm still not in favor of the
draconian approaches Joaquin is advocating but it is clear the landscape
is changing and we must adapt to those changes.
The noise on the reflector has gotten so loud it is hard to follow the
information. So many proposals have been presented. Passwords were one
proposal. They work to an extent, unless they are compromised or lost.
I thought I read of a proposal for a central database for
authentication, a really bad idea IMHO. You could do DNS authentication
with a TXT record but that would leave everyone without a static IP and
DNS control out.
The sad fact is this nicene war didn't have to happen. A little more
constructive conversation might have averted this "conflict". Issue
resolution should have been the preferred strategy. There is a word for
that: compromise.
Just my 2 cents/ 2 pence.
