We may have a problem,
Aldershot have come back to say they will now play the game on the 25th
which is a bit of a bugger as hoping to get a bye as told them we
couldn't play on the 18th so do we have enough volunteers to travel to
aldershot and play on the 18th
Many thanks
Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for your email and thank you for your efforts in trying to see if
we could play the fixture earlier.
I spoke to Mike Baker at England Hockey and he was happy for us to play
the fixture early if both teams mutually agreed to do so. I know that
the rules specifically state that you are not allowed to arrange to play
the match after the scheduled date unless adverse weather conditions
occur and only then you can use the slip date (we would have had the
same problem as yourselves then anyway with half-term with a lot of us
being Mums), so I think we need to revert to the original date and play
the fixture on Sunday 25th October - I will confirm this with England
Hockey.
I shall also let my team know that is when we shall be playing and then
I'll be in touch to actually confirm the specific details.
Our normal home pitch - Heath End Astro at Farnham Heath End School,
(Surrey) becomes available on Sundays at 12.10 after all the Mini
/Junior hockey players have safely cleared the area and Sunday matches
can then commence at 12.30 p.m. I trust this is agreeable to you.
Many of the details you might find useful can be found on our club
website which is www.afhockey.com <http://www.afhockey.com/> and of
course in the meantime please feel free to contact me.
Our ladies teams play in red shirts, navy blue skirts and red, white and
blue hooped socks.
Charlie, would you mind confirming The Pelicans team strip please ? so
we can advise the umpires accordingly.
Many thanks again,
Shirley Jervis

Afternoon Shirley,
I have tried everybody and unfortunately we are unable to get a side up
for the 18th due to commitments our end, not sure what to do now as the
weekend after the 25th most are away due to being half term this end.
Basically we have to wait and see what England Hockey say.
I am in meetings the rest of the afternoon but will ring later to make
sure you have received this message.
Sorry again
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
We (Aldershot & Farnham Hockey Club - "The Older Shots") have been drawn
to host The Pelicans Veterans in the National Cup on Sunday 25th October
2009.
For us this presents quite a tricky problem in that the date clashes
with The Great South Run - charity 10 mile run in Portsmouth. One of
our player's cousins sadly passed away last year (aged only 31yrs) and a
significant number of our players will be running in his memory to raise
funds for The Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK.
We therefore wonder whether you would kindly consider bringing the
fixture forward one week and playing it on Sunday 18th October 2009. I
understand from the Competitions rules that it is permissible to play a
fixture early but only if both teams are in mutual agreement and that we
have written agreement from the Competitions Department for which I
would be more than happy to seek if you agree to the re-arranged date.
I appreciate that I have bounced this on you for which I am truly sorry
but it also seems that I need to complete these requests within a very
short timeframe as I need to submit a Match Details Confirmation Form to
England Hockey at least nine days before the tie and confirm the
arrangements with yourself which in real terms means before the tomorrow
evening: Thursday 8th October.
We are really looking forward to the fixture against The Pelicans as it
is the first time that we have ever run and entered a Vets team in any
competition and we look forward to extending a very warm welcome to you
at Aldershot & Farnham Hockey Club.
Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience on any of
the contact details below:
