Good Afternoon all,
With the season over I thought it was a good time to update you all on the new pitch project and where we are with fundraising.

The council are running the project for us as it is part of major developments at Lynnsport.

We have heard back from them to say that their grant application from Sport England has been unsuccessful on this occasion which will put the project back, the good news is that there was some very good feedback from Sport England on what needs tweaking so they can apply again in the near future and hopefully be successful.

Obviously this now means that we are unlikely to be playing on new pitches next season, this is a big disappointment but having gone so far then it will still be worth waiting for and will allow us more time to raise more money.

We set ourselves a target of £60,000 to raise towards the project knowing we had a substantial amount already raised over the years and held by our parent company Pelicans Go Plastic. We are approximately half way in reaching that figure and with the Golf Day, Parachute jump, grain money and Ball to come then we shouldn't be too far away.
We have also been lucky that we have been successful in a grant from England Hockey towards the lighting on the pitch if we have a specific wattage. We will have to see if that funding is still available if the project runs into the next financial year so we shouldn't rely on that at this stage.

We have been very fortunate with our pitch that it has worn remarkably well and we all moan when the sludge arrives after a heavy downpour but it has out lived its natural life span by a good few years but will need to be replaced after next season. The council are aware of this,
If we were to re-lay our pitch it would cost us the £150,000 we have set ourselves to raise for the new pitch so would have nothing to take to the council, we have a long lease on our pitch so we would be in no rush to move if we had a new carpet.

So in conclusion it isn't all bad news, a slight delay in building is a frustration but will allow us to keep fundraising to make sure we reach our target so please support upcoming events where possible and will keep you all informed as and when we know more.

Any questions please give me a ring.

Have a great summer.

Charlie
