Ian, Jimmy here, the port is pk232 on a Linux box running Mandrake 9.0.
We are trying to auto connect to another ham's radio running a pc and tnc.

maybe, 

Timeout 60
abort (Busy|Sorry|Fail)
connect ax25 pk232 w5bv


and yes, the script is called "w5bv"

I hope this is enough info...
