Thanks for the suggestion.  It is definitely a KPC-3 and the plus commands
(XKCH & XKISS) are not in my manual, but, I gave it a try anyway ... there
was no change.

There are 2 flavors of the KPC3.  You might try the other version.  Most
of the problems I've hard with KPC3 is due to the TNC NOT being in the
KISS mode.
Tnc Type - KPC3+
                 Tnc Sub Type - XKISS (Checksum)
                 IniKiss1 - XKCH ON
                 IniKiss2 - INTFACE XKISS
                 IniKiss3 - RESET

Tnc Type - KPC3
                 Tnc Sub Type - KISS Simple
                 IniKiss1 - <blank>
                 IniKiss2 - INTFACE KISS
                 IniKiss3 - RESET

FWIW, there is another DXSpider node in Cumberland, RI.
