[Dxspider-support] kissattach

I have recently decided to go down the Linux road having run spider under
win2k for some time
and have run in to problems with the ax25 end of things kernel compiled fine
and everything installed ok but when I issue the kissattach command system
returns

kissattach:open :input/output error

nrattach works fine

 I am assuming this is a problem with the serial port or tnc
any ideas
