[Dxspider-support] Miscellaneous stuff

Hi All,

After much tinkering, I think I have the DX-Central node settled down.

Regarding the "hangs", what I seemed to notice in many of the incidents is
that the hang would occur when the cron ran. I had a single line in the
cron for a KE9KD-2 connection check. It's quite possible that running an
older version of Perl (5.6.0) and not compiled for multi-thread coupled
with the fact it could take ~30 seconds or more to establish a connect to
(the then up) KE9KD-2 box was causing everything to get stuck in queue
until the KE9KD-2 connection was either made or timed out.

I also downloaded the latest Perl (5.8.0) and compiled it for
multi-thread. Of course doing this forced me to recompile all of the
modules that Spider uses, but what else did I have to do (besides sleep ;-) ).

Between removing the KE9KD-2 connection check and/or upgrading Perl seems
to have fixed my "hang" problem. At least I'm not noticing it like I was
earlier. I can't wait to see how it performs during the contests.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I think we have ignition.
