In an effort to flush the problems out:

I am in the process of updating wpxloc.raw to be more compatible with
cty.dat (the CT country data, which I also use). I am also looking at
enhancing the prefix system in other ways. 

Now would be a good time to make your suggestions for improvements and
to tell me about those annoying problems that I haven't fixed yet.
