This line works fine on my cluster, try it:

-cut-
DX:23:respawn:/bin/su -c "/usr/bin/perl -w /spider/perl/cluster.pl" 
spider > /dev/tty8
-cut-

By the time init gets to run that line, the rest of the system has 
already been initialized, including ax25.
