OK Dan, you will like 2006 its much faster on bootup, BUT in a bid to get things out before anyone 
else they used the prerelease of Xorg 6.9.
If you use a ATI Radeon card you will notice no acceleration, and if you use a Nvidia card a few 
more probs.
They are now fixed.
On install make sure dkms is loaded , this should make sure the correct video driver loads.
If you have nvidia graphics card/in built and Xfails to start on boot up get the nvidia drivers from 
the nvidia site, latest is nvidia-7676.

Anything after the Xorg cvs build in November has these fixes in.
The 4 iso images are on most mirrors.
