[Dxspider-support] install problems

Tom,

I went through the same "Perl Pain" about a week ago when trying to install
a new node from scratch. It seems that some of the CPAN modules insist on
using a hard coded value for their compile procedure.

I first thought I'd would just manually add the .h files one at a time to
the directory, but every time I added one, a "new" one was found to be
missing. That got old very quickly.

My solution was to download the full Perl source (v5.8.5 - the same as the
Mandrake 10.1 disto) and recompile everything. When you do the
"configure", it will allow you to choose many things, one of them being the
directories. Point them to the same dirs that installed with the 10.1
distro and just overwrite anything that's there. After doing this all of
your CPAN modules will compile without a hitch.

BTW, I don't recall, but I think Curses and TimeHiRes were the only two I
had to add manually after installing MDRK10.1.
