DXSpider's "ping" is simply a protocol-based message sent between 
connected nodes.  If the node partner correctly implements the old PC 
message protocol, then ping should function irrespective of the type of 
node partner.

One thing to remember... if nodes are NOT initially linked correctly, 
then ping requests will go unanswered.
