[Dxspider-support] problem autostarting cluster - Red Hat FC3

It looks like a permissions issue or something missing. Can you start the
cluster manually in a console window when logged in under that user? If you
are listening on the standard telnet port 23 you will need to run it as
root.

As for starting in init.d, use one of the files in there as an example.
There is quite a bit of special syntax. Copy your example to init.d and
edit it. Then when you bring up the "Services" applet, it should appear
there. When you turn it on for the given runlevel, the script will create
the appropriate links in the rc.x subdirectories.

I am working on ax25 and spider scripts for SuSE 9.2, but haven't had the
time to get them working properly yet. I also need to find some time to
create a chroot jail for spider running as root.

Subject: [Dxspider-support] problem autostarting cluster - Red Hat FC3

Hi

My first posting to the list, so be gentle ...HI

running FC3 on a big box as follows
# uname -a
Linux ads3.hq.yardley.com 2.6.10-1.770_FC3smp #1 SMP Thu Feb 24 14:20:06 EST
2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

added the following line to /etc/inittab:

dxcl:35:respawn:/bin/su -c "/usr/bin/perl -w /spider/perl/cluster.pl"
spideradmin >/dev/tty7

(I use spideradmin instead of sysop as userid for cluster administration)

/var/log/messages contains the following snip and the cluster does not start

Mar 9 09:05:01 ads3 crond(pam_unix)[14021]: session opened for user root by

Mar 9 09:05:09 ads3 init: Id "dxcl" respawning too fast: disabled for 5
minutes

the previous snip repeats every 5 mins ...

sure would appreciate your insights ...

also, would appreciate any alternative start up script for /etc/init.d with
symlinks in /etc/rc3.d, /init/rc5.d ... have struck out at 'daemonizing'
cluster.pl under spideradmin. cluster is launched but fails when trying to
open users.v3 ...

this node is only a few days old, so could suffer from many different errors
in configuration, etc ...

Thanks for you help and vy 73,
Alan KF3B
