For some strange reason, many sysops think that the more nodes you have
connected, the better off you are. The problem you are seeing is the
result of the hopelessly fouled network that's a result of this
thinking and too many interconnected nodes.
I believe the key is to find a few reliable sources of spots and then
establish filtered links with those nodes. As well as using the
standard accept/reject method of filtering, I also have the other node
set up hop table filtering. In this way, all of the irrelevant
node/user info (PCxx) is not even set to my node. Hence, I cut down
the tremendous amount of background churning that would have to take
place on my node.
